SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH CHATEAU TAPESTRY WALL HANGING LOUIS XV HUNTING SCENE 19thCPlease scroll down for more pictures.This is a superb antique French chateau tapestry wall hanging from the 19th century.
The back still bears the old sepia ink chateau label that readsAPRES OUDRY. CHASSE LOUIS XV with another couple of words I cannot make out.
A rich weave of linen and wool the colours are rich and decadent and the tapestry is in superb condition.
The scene depicts a woodland hunting scene with two hunters in plays the horn and the other holds a whip aloft.
In the background are more hounds, some in the stream. A horse drawn carriage with more riders and further in the background the chateau turrets.The tapestry measures:
Length 5 feet 10\"
Width 25.5\"
All in good condition with no fading or wear.
