SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH SILVER ARGENT MASSIF EMPIRE FISH SLICE with PIKE c1825:
$244.67

This is a superb high quality antique French Empire silver, argent massif, fish server. It is beautifully pierced and chased with a wonderful depiction of a fish (probably a pike?) and what I believe to be an ebony handle. It really is a gorgeous piece of silver in my opinion, and the best fish slice I have ever seen.My pictures below show this item in detail. If you need any more images or have any questions, I would be very happy to help. Please also view my other exquisite Empire item, this time an equally gorgeous set of spoons. I would be happy to combine postage if you win both sales.Maker: ACC with a cup below an imperial crown (une coupe et une couronne imperiale dessus): Aimée Catherine Clérin, widow of the maker Mr. Lecour. Her first mark was registered February 12, 1807 and this is the third mark of hers which was registered in 1818. She was succeeded in 1830 by François-Marie Lecour who continued to use the same mark (there is no record of its cancellation). Her address in 1813 was 12 rue Bailleul, Hotel d\'Aligre, 11 Place Dauphine, Paris. My thanks go to the www.925-1000 forum for this attribution. Date, Assay Office or Country: Paris, France, 1819-1830. Monogram/Crest: None. Dimensions & Weight: Measures 34.5 cm in length and weighs 173 gms. Silver Fineness: Stamped with the Michaelangelo first standard silver fineness mark for 0.950 (first used in 1819). It is also stamped with the head of a Greek lady with the letter ‘P’ to her left. This was used in Paris by the Association of Gold & Silversmiths as a private (and therefore of no legal standing) method of indicating fineness, inititated as a result of the disorganisation after the Revolution of 1789. This particular stamp was introduced in 1793, replaced in 1797, but tended to be used for many years after, as in the case of this server. Condition: Very Fine, with extremely clear marks. There is some minor surface scratching and a small number of nicks, but less than might be expected for its age. As a guide, I use the term ‘Very Fine’ when condition is as good as, or better, than might be expected for an item of its age. Where condition is less than might be expected, I use the term ‘Fine’. Condition is subjective, so please see my pictures and use your own judgement! Please remember all items have been pre-owned and used. They will therefore show signs of this use, particularly if antique.
