SUPERB ANTIQUE GEORGIAN REGENCY NET OVER DRESS EMBROIDERED SILK TRIM ca.1818:

This is a most beautiful and rare overdress of snowflake embroidered white net with frills to the hem, shoulder detail, and all trimmed with rich cream silk ribbon. It has back opening with slightly elevated waist front and back. The waistband is in cotton, which would have had a silk sash. The sleeves are long and also trimmed with cream silk satin ribbon. There are gatheres to the shoulders. The insided front waist ties are intact.
This overdress would have been worn with an underdress of cream silk satin, and this would be quite easy to replicate together with a sash.
This is the most stunning overdress I have ever seen, primarily because it is in such fantastic condition. I would assume it has been little used, although we shall never know what happened to the under-dress. However, this garment is wonderful in it\'s own right. It is strong, and the net is soft and not at all brittle.Measurements: Length from shoulder 45\". Across shoulders 15\". Sleeve length 24\".Highly recommended for the advanced costume collector.
