Offered here is a superb early 19th century Dutch or English School oil on board of two male figures with a beachscape in the background. The two men are portrayed in deep conversation, one seated in peasant attire with a red cap, the other standing and carrying a basket perhaps suggesting they are beachcombers or cockle pickers. The scene is full of light with convincing depth and well handled figures. The painting is housed in a period gilt wood frame and is ready to hang. The visible image measures 11 1/2\" x 9 1/2\" and the frame 14 1/2\" x 12 1/2\". A delightful and pleasing picture in nice original condition as per the photos below.
