Up for sale with is a top of the line quality American Sterling Silver Tea & Coffee Service. The Service is fully marked Sterling Silver and for the important American Silversmiths The Gorham Co., along with a date mark for 1955. The Service is very much in the English Georgian design and features amazing deeply engraved designs of Flowers and Scrolls which are so much finer and more beautiful than my photos can show. Even the lids on the pots are finely engraved and the lids open and close very nicely on sturdy hinges. Gorham Sterling is every bit the quality of Tiffany & Co and this is shown in the Solid Rosewood handles instead of a much cheaper ebonized wood. The Service is in amazing condition for being over 60 years old with only a minor dint mark or two, nothing to detract from the beauty as seen. Best of all the Service has never been monogrammed either. The Service is a nice size for display or modern use with the Coffee Pot measuring9-1/4 inches tall by8-1/2 inches long and holding5 cups, while the Teapot measures8-1/4 inches tall by8 inches long and holds approx4 cups. The Service is very thick Sterling Silver throughout, weighing1795 grams combined and you can really feel the quality in your hands. There is nothing quite like Solid Sterling and Gorham is amongst the finest you can buy, I am sure this will be an heirloom treasure for the new owner. Please note the Tray shown in the last photo is not included but is being sold in another of our sales tonight.
