Superb Huge 19c Japanese Meiji Cloisonne Enamel Charger Of Samurai Warriors 21"+ For SaleFor your consideration I am proud to offer here a splendid large 19c Japanese Meiji period cloisonne enamel charger depicting two Samurai standing in a snowy landscape with a flower and dragon boarder. This charger was produced in Japan during the Meiji period around the late 1800s during the golden age of cloisonne in Japan. This is a very large charger at 21-1/4" in diameter with thick and heavy construction weighing 12 lbs with a vast variety of colors and shades of those colors along with a massive amount of wire work as in the outer garments and footwear of the samurai. The subject matter shows two samuraiwarriorsstanding in a snowy landscape appearing to be on a island with water separating them from a mountainous landscape and impressive blue skys. Thesamuraiare surrounded by plants, rockery and a large tree with a outside boarder of flowers with a dragon to the top and bottom. The reverse shows a white expanse with decorative and colorful flowers with the inner foot rim done in a sky blue with chrysanthemum flowers and a butterfly. Condition is excellent with no chips, dents or damage of any kind but there is a certain amount of production flaws such as voids in the enamel, bubble pits and small areas where there seems to have less enamel than needed inside the wire designs but keeping in mind the huge size and I would imagine it is quit difficult and used alot of material but a super impressive charger in a rarely seen depiction. Sizes: Diameter 21-1/4" x Depth 3". Don't miss this opportunity to add a very special piece of Japanese cloisonne as the winner will not bedisappointed.
