This sale is for a very large Chinese wood tray dating to the 19th century. The tray is finely inlaid with mother of pearl design of flowers, insects, and butterflies. Detail in the work is superb as can be seen in the photos and displays beautifully. It is impressive in size measuring 25.75 inches (65.4cm) long and 17.5 inches (44.5cm) across. There is usual light wear as can be seen in the photos and just one spot of missing inlay in one of the butterflies. Finally one of the end pieces is loose but could easily be secured. Just a wonderful and early piece of Chinese wood work that displays wonderfully.
