Dating from the late 1800s this is a fabulous large antique French velvet covered wooden plinth or stand.
It perhaps once held a large clock or similar and now would be wonderful to carry any period display or collection.
It is a heavyweight solid wooden piece that is covered with beautiful soft green timeworn velvet.
Over the years the velvet has faded and lost some pile which simply adds to its period appeal and look of faded grandeur.
I love the way the front and sides have serpentine curves which adds a flowing look.
The base has a leather covering.

I have measured across the top which is slightly narrower than the base)
Width 23.5\" (59.5cms)
Max depth 7.5\" (19cms)
Height 3\" (7.5cms)
I have left it just as I found it and the velvet would benefit from a brushing or even a quick hoovering!
A delicieux and genuine period display piece.
