Description Areally superb rareearly antique Georgian faux tortoiseshellring boxdating from around 1830 and in lovely condition. Stunning genuine early 19th Century casket-shaped box,and a good size too, slightly bigger than usual examples.Has a hinged lid and is decorated with a beautiful faux tortoiseshell covering, andhas attractive inlaid geometric pewter/silver stringing. Inside itis all original and linedin old burgundy velvet and hasundamaged sheet cow-bone border edge rims. Rests on 4 original turned cow bonefeet and has a sprung push button lid opener.There areno added personal engraved inscriptions ormonograms.

Measurements Good size, larger than usual, measures approx.2.65 inches (67mm) x 1.65 inches (42mm) and is1.55 inches (40mm) in height.Date English antiqueGeorgian and dates from around 1830-1840. 100% guaranteed period 19th Century. ConditionLovely condition, no splits or cracks to the wood andno repairs. The faux tortoiseshell covering is in excellent condition, no nasty chips, a teeny littleedge rim loss near one of the feet, honestly not noticeable, see last photo. The lid hinge is original and in perfect working order and the sprung lid opener works fine. The sheet cow bone edge rim decoration is undamaged and the turned feet are all original and intact. The silver/pewter stinging is still in superb condition too. Good clean interior velvet lining. Wonderful example and with no added personal inscriptions.
