The most incredible ensemble, an original vintage late 20s to early 30s 3 piece ensemble that would have been considered very high quality. Sold in a high end Madison Ave, NYC store. Possibly made in Paris as the store label claims it was an Importer and from where else would they have imported the high fashion garments of the era? The 3 pieces are an open coat, a slip skirt combination and a tunic style top. The mole grey lightweight soft wool coat is lined in the front with matching to the dress striped silk fabric while the center is lined with greyish taupe silk. The coat has the very Art Deco graphic label. On the front of the coat is a full length asymmetrical cutscarf, slanted inserts on each side and on the sleeve cuffs, the back has 3 layers, 2 of which are assymetrical. In overall very good condition w some small moth holes; the lining is a back layer so they are not very visible. From age there is very slight color variation. The red and taupe stripe print is a 3 stripe variation. A silk slip and skirt combination with the skirt area being a drop style and drop pleats. The top bodice area has deterioration from the shoulders to the underarms. The center is a lightweight faille like fabric that is sturdy and in very good condition. Also the skirt has a few small holes and the hem is lined with red satin. If you reconstruct a bodice it could easily be reattached to the skirt. The wonderful Sailor influence pullover tunic top has lovely detailing; graduated tucks on the front and back shoulders, a long draping asymmetrical scarf attached to low cut V neckline, wide oval flaps decorated with brass buttons to simulate pockets. And the sleeves are gathered at the elbows, the cuffs also have brass buttons. In possible overall repairable condition; there are some well done repairs and a some small holes. It would be best if it could backed with a lining. The sleeves are very damaged from just below the elbow while the cuffs are in good condition; I would recommend cutting them off to be 3/4 or 1/2 sleeves an using the cuffs to create a cuffed shorter sleeve. Measurements are taken laying flat and across; Top 15.5\" shoulder to shoulder, 40\" bust, 42\" waist, 44\" hips and 29\" mid shoulder to hem. Slip/Skirt 38\" bust 38\" waist and 40\" hips. The coat of course is appropriate measurements to the other two pieces. An extraordinary example of the affluent woman who shopped in New York City and was quite fashion conscious.
