Fine original antiquecolor lithographed print, produced in the late19th century.

Delightful little image, looks like a nicely printed version of a medieval miniature painting. The gold ink used is reflective, the image displays a very high level of skillful tiny color printing. Title in Latin below image.

This particular type of mid-19th century colored printing process is very time intensive and highly skilled, involving trained artisans and challenging hand operated machinery, both of which are now quite rare.Because of these and various other factors,it is now essentially extinct as a method of reproducing iconic religiousimages such as this one.

An interesting and beautifully printed colorfulpaper artifact from a long past era.

Printed on quality period paper which is lightly unifromly toned, may show typical gentle signs of age, perhaps some minor light spotting or foxing, butretains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness.
