From Gujarat : Patola, A Traditional Handwoven Ikat Saree, Is Made In Patan District In Gujarat (Western India). Patola Is Possibly Derived From The Sanskrit Word \"Pattakula\" Meaning A Silk Fabric. In Gujarat, It Is Worn By The Ladies During The Social And Religious Ceremonial Activities. Patola Sarees Are Handwoven From Silk By Using The Warp & Weft Technique. These Threads Are Then Wrapped To Resist The Dye According To The Required Pattern And Is Repeated For Each Color. The Patola Sarees Looks Alike From Both The Sides As Both Sides Have The Same Intensity Of Color And Design And Thus Can Be Worn Both Ways. In The Double Ikat Patola Sarees Both The Warp & Weft Are Dyed Before Weaving. These Sarees Are Recognized By Their Diverse Colorful Geometrical Patterns, Parrots, Flowers, Elephants & Dancing Figures.
