Description

This is a superb museum quality necklace. The necklace comes from a very fine New York city estate. It dates to the Edwardian to Art Deco period c1910.

The necklace has a stunning array of natural freshwater pearls. These have the most wonderful silvery white color. They are in superb condition with the nacre intact and with beautiful lustre. They are graduated from 3 mm to 8 mm. They are individually hand knotted. They are divine!

And then there is the sapphire diamond clasp - Oh this is to die for! The sapphire is just exquisite. It has the most wonderful natural blue color - it is radiant and gorgeous. It is .40 carats and 5 mm in diameter and it is beautifully faceted.

The sapphire is surrounded by 10 Old Mine Cut diamonds. These are white white white with the incredible fire and sparkle of the antique diamonds that we love. They are I color and I1 clarity and they total .70 Carats.

The jewels are set in an amazing 14K white gold clasp - look at the details of this clasp! It has two pressure points to release the clasp and a wonderful flipping up safety catch!

The necklace is worthy of the fine jewelry collections in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The necklace is in excellent condition. The pearls are in excellent condition. The diamonds and sapphire are in excellent condition. The necklace is 20 inches (51 cm) long. The round clasp is 11 mm in diameter. The necklace weighs 18.8 grams.

In a fine antique jewelry store this would be approximately $8,000!
