Description:Unusual and rare find. Faience Sarreguemines plate. Image along rim is in the shape of a crescent moon. Done in rich rusty-brown coloring. From a series of plates depicting the artist\'s beautifulrenderings from the monumental life of Joan of Arc (Jeanne d\'Arc).This unique plate\'s caption reads \"Depart de Jeanne d\'Arc pour Chinon\" (\"Joan of Arc\'s Departure to Chinon\"). There is a number 2 on thelower right. Please see photo for close-up image. Manufacturer\'s back stamp dates this plate circa 1875-1900. Back rim is drilled and wired for hanging. In good antique condition, with characteristics consistent with age. There are no notable damages. There are some tiny manufacturing glaze bubbles, and age crazing.
