Sarreguemines Character Mug Pitcherof a very impish looking Puck or jester!Those rosy cheeks, those red, red lips....I do think this one has been imbibing on a bit of vin rouge!
There are a number of these listed.Of course I think mine is nicer,....except for one other which is much more expensive!
The eyebrows appear a bit darker and more definedand those red cheeks and lips!Character!
If you are interested in the history of this company,everyone else seems to have info.
Height is 7\"; Width is 4 1/4\"; Depth is 6 3/4\"Base is 3\" in diameterMarked on the bottom SARREGUEMINES FRANCE 653and some other less defined markings I can\'t make out.
It has the expected crazing in the glaze and one very, very small chipin the light green area above the back of his proper right ear.It\'s a very old chip and I could repair it but it doesn\'t bother meand is just part of its life.
Since it is Good Friday today I have photographed him in front ofa 17th century crucifixation scene with Saint Francis andan angel which was uncovered, discovered in the upper right quadrant of the painting.
And on a final note,I do think this face looks a LOT like that David Lee character on \'The Good Wife!\'
