This is a scarce antique opalescent glass bowl featuring the Wheel and Block pattern and made by Dugan Glass, circa 1906.
The bowl has scalloped edging with the four pointed sides up, fleur di lis, bullseye jewels on stippled background, and a bursting sun rays center... very Victorian in style.
A real beauty!
Condition: This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The opalescence is fiery. There are, of course, the usual manufacturing facets to point out, e.g., the internal air bubbles and the straw marks (shearing tool marks), all commonly associated with the hand manufacturing of old opalescent, carnival, and EAPG. No two pieces of old hand manufactured glass are exactly alike.
... A fantastic example of a Dugan pattern and a nice piece for the appreciator of fine EAPG, carnival and opalescent glass, be it Dugan, Northwood, Fenton, Jefferson, Millersburg, Westmoreland, Imperial, Sowerby, or others!
