Beautiful brass railroad train clock, they were painted black because of the soot. You can see the brass peeking out where the black paint has flaked off. This train clock came from a railroad collectors estate near Newton, Kansas.This large heavy train clock is the same clock manufactured by Schaffer & Budenberg for navel vessels in the early 1900\'s. The key is not original to the clock and I\'ve never tried to work the clock. I was told it would be better to have it cleaned by a professional clock repair prior to winding because of possible soot inside. I left all the original patina except I cleaned a the soot that was on the face of the clock. Brass face door opens for winding.
