This impressively sized acid carved cameo vase was produced by Schneider-Le Verre Francais sometime around 1920. Le Verre items offer some of the best examples of the art glass that was produced bridging the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco. While this vase is done predominately in the Art Nouveau style, elements of Art Deco are also present.This vase is done with a deep burgundy glass overlaid upon vibrant golds and then acid cut to the design. Charles Schneider allowed his glass artists great latitude in adapting his designs to the various shapes they created. That is evident here.The vase stands 16\" (40.6 cm) tall and measures approximately 6-1/2\" (16.5 cm) in diameter. It is substantial, weighing nearly 6-1/2 pounds (2.95 kg). The piece is in excellent condition without chips or flea bites.The first four pictures are of the vase as it is rotated. This will be double boxed for safer shipping.
