This is an anamorphic adapter made by Schneider in Germany. Originally intended as a projector lens it may be used to create widescreen images and video.

The lens has been tested on a camera and works as it should. Focus has been checked with the taking lens wide open down to 12ft from the lens. The sample photos of the test pattern were taken with this lens. It was deliberately taken at 45 degrees to show both horizontal and vertical focus. The first was taken at 89\" with the lens for sale in this listing using an Olympus EM5 and a Nikon 50mm f/1.8. It has not been expanded. The second was taken at 59in at f/8 to show that you can get closer if you need to.

The rail system set up used to take all the samples is shown in the first photo. It was put together from items available on for less than $40. (I will provide the details to the buyer.) The mount supports the scope adapter with no connection to the lens on the camera. The camera lens is free to focus back and forthas it is not attached tothe anamorphic lens. Note that the rail system, camera, taking lens etc are not included in the listing.

The clamp of the tripod mount has been shimmed to provide a secure hold on the lens without causing any damage.

The remaining samples were taken with a similar lens. The camera, tripod, rails etc are not included. They were taken in 16:9 then expanded to 32:9. First photo is at night, the other two at sunrise. Excellent lens, very sharp, great color. These lenses produce excellent images and can be used for stills or video.

Similar examples have also been tested with lenses of different focal lengths and with different format (crop factor) cameras. A 40mm lens (on a m4/3 camera) showed no vignetting. At 35mm there was still no vignetting, but the front edges of the lens were visible. Hence 40mm is the practical limit with a m4/3 2x crop camera. Note that the rear element has a clear diameter of about 49mm. Any lens substantially larger than this will cause vignetting. Testing with a Canon 60D (APS-C, 1.6x crop) showed no vignetting with a 50mm lens in 4:3 format. A Nikon APS-C (1.5x) with a 50mm showed some vignetting in 3:2 format which would be just about eliminated when cropped to 4:3. Samples for these cameras are shown in a different listing.

The lens for sale in this listing is shown in the fourth to eighth photos. The camera, lens, rails etc are not included.

CONDITION
This is a used lens in very good overall condition.Cosmetically the lens has some minor scratches. Note that the one of the front tabs has a barely noticeable ripple. It does not affect operation.

The front and rear glass are excellent, no obvious marks or scratches. There are a few very light cleaning marks on each. Inside there is no fungus, just some dust and a few particles. Nothing that will affect the images.

Included in this listing is the lens itself with the mount. The rear element will be properly protected for shipping. The items shown in the photos showing the rail mount with the camera and taking lens etc. are not included.
