Set of 4 Demitasse Teacups and Saucers from the Japanese Meiji Period, in a Floral design, Hand painted Kutani made in Eggshell Porcelain and Signed Tashiro. These cups are decorated in multicolored flower blossoms on a pale blue background.Measure appx 4\" wide saucer and 2\" cups. Minor color loss to edge of cup rims, see photos.

Tashiro Ichiroji operated a shop in Yokohama Japan and had distinctively decorated pieces, sometimes by Kutani trained artists. Tashiro Ichiroji was a famous ceramic artist during the Meiji era and exhibited his porcelain wares at major international exhibits. At the World\'s Fair Columbian Exposition (Chicago World\'s Fair) in 1893 he was awarded for his porcelain and noted as a manufacturer from Kanagawa. In 1904 at the St. Louis International Exposition, Ichiroji is noted for his exhibitions in porcelain wares: dining utensils, tea sets, punch bowls, flower basins, umbrella stands, ornamental plate, chocolate sets, bowls, plates, Japanese tea sets, and ice cream nappies. He was internationally famous for his porcelain, cloisonne, cloisonne on porcelain, and earthenware goods. Tashiro Ichiroji early porcelain works during the Meiji era have written signatures and were sold under his company Tashiro-ya. In general, all kanji handwritten signatures bearing the name Tashiro was made during the Meiji era.
