This is a set of four woven silk bookmark cards made in the 1950\'s by the Quality Weaving Company of Philadelphia, PA, USA. They are all copyright 1953 and look to have been made about the same time in the 1950\'s. The silks are attached to a card made from a piece of stock folded twice, and one can open the card and write something on the inside. The back has the Quality Weaving Company name. The folded cards are 5 5/8ths inches by 4 5/8ths inches, and the silks are about 6 1/4 inches long. The Quality Weaving Company made woven silk items, such as these bookmarks, similar to the ones made by the Coventry UK silk weaving firm of Thomas Stevens, who made woven silk pictures (and portraits, postcards, bookmarks, etc) known as \"Stevengraphs\" in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Stevens used Jacquard-type looms controlled by paper rolls (sort of like a player piano) to make very detailed silk weavings. I would say these are in at least \"very good\" condition, and the silks appears to be in perfect condition, but the pictures tell the story. None of the cards have any writing or have been used. There is some light foxing to the edges of the cards, and this is all visible in the photos. It does not affect the silks. This is a must-have set for a Quality Weaving Company silk collector. These are rarely seen on , and never as a matching set, and I believe I am starting these at a low price. These belonged to my Dad, who collected Stevengraphs and other silk weavings. I am listing some more of these later this week, as well as some other silk weavings.I accept only Paypal.
