en route from its 50+ year static Pomona display to Cheyene, Wyoming where this iron giant
will be restored to operational status over the next 5 years. (I chased the big fella for over 2 hours to get this image . . . ENJOY!)

RARELY SEEN LOOSE, these vintage cast iron wheels were items that may have also been found on old miner\'s Ore Cars, however, the the Set you see here actually came from Gunnery Target Carts at Kingman Army Air Field\'s ground range during the early 1940s.
One phase of the USAAF\'s Aerial Gunnery Training was firing machine guns at cloth banners attached to large, motorized carts moving along triangular tracks, giving students experience at leading their targets in several directions.
DETAILS:
The inside flange of each Wheel is 9\" across and the diameter of the flat that makes contact with the rail tapers from approximately 8-1/8\" to 8\". They\'re approximately 2-1/2\" wide. The axles were torched off, leaving stubs inside each Wheel. Axle OD is a little over 1\", so when new, they were probably 1\". Also included are 4 Axle Bushing/Clamp Assys.
Around 70 years old and as one would expect, they\'re a bit rusty but with no breaks or obvious cracks. Each Wheel weighs 11 pounds and the total package weight for 4 cartons comes to approximately 55 pounds.These are antique, heavy duty Wheels that one could use to construct a scale Railroad Engine, Car and/or Caboose, complete an antique Ore Cart or perhaps build a replica; wouldn\'t that look awesome parked next to your fireplace, stuffed full of wood...
