This sale is a wonderful Set of 5 Antique Scottish Thistle Pins, Possibly Dundee Symphony Orchestra, c. 1900. This is a fascinating set of five thistle pins or badges that I believe was worn by different members of the Dundee Symphony Orchestra in Scotland. Each pin has an upper part with a thistle and a sort of charm emblem suspended from the center. Three of the pins have a different instrument piece or symbol, suspended there, one has a crown and the other has the Holy Bible. Then each pin has a circular badge with a thistle, D O S, and on the bottom of the pin it reads different for each pin depending upon the instrument played or item that appears in the pin. Please review the specific pictures to see the different instruments at the top and initials on the bottom of each pin.Each pin is gilt metal, probably brass underneath. There is some wear to the gilding.
