This set of 4 dishes/low bowls measure 6” square, with aglazed interior decorated in brown against a beige background. The hand painted design appears to havea mountain in the background with a tall tree on the right hand side, smallerone on the left, and Japanese symbols in between the two.

We do not know how these dishes were used, possibly forappetizers with a dipping sauce, for example. The marking on the back of each has a 5 sided figure, withwhat looks like “E J 7” inside the shape.We also note that under each bowl is a woven imprint that would be madeby using cheesecloth for a mold support - believing that it’s more likely thesedishes were created by a studio potter.

All four are in very good condition and there aren’t anycracks, chips, or flakes on these vintage dishes/low bowls.
