Seth Thomas Double Wind ships clock:
$300.00

I have up for your consideration today a vintage Seth Thomas double wind ship\'s clock that is in very good condition, running well and keeping excellent time. The case on this clock appears to bechrome or perhaps a nickel plated metal and is in good condition with a bit of tarnish on the top. The dial is printed on paper and has a smudge and a scratch or two. The hands all appear to be original. The movement speedis adjusted by moving a small lever inside of a slot near the top of the dial. There are two holes in the dial where one winds the clock. It runs for about seven or eight days on a single winding. The case has three mounting holes around the rim of the clock as you can see in the photographs. The crystal is glass. A winding key is included with this sale.

I purchased this clock about three years ago and it ran well until earlier this year. After monitoring its performance for a week or so, I took it to a local shop where theclockmaker cleaned, oiled and adjusted the timepiece along with replacing some of the bushings in the movement. That was in March of 2017. The clock has been running great eversince. A few weeks ago I located a German made Schatz Royal Mariner eight-bell ship\'s clock at a local flea market. Since my desire was to have a clock that had the bell feature, I purchased the Schatz and have decided to sell the Seth Thomas.

As to the movement in this clock, a recent buyer asked if it was an original Seth Thomas #10. I examined the clock carefully but could not find an opening or other way to check other than to remove the hands and dial. I called the clockmaker and asked if he remembered. He said that he remembers working on my clock and that the movement therein is an original Seth Thomas movement, but he does not remember the designation. He went on to say that it would require removing the hands and dial and then removing the movement in order to determine the exact model number, which is not an easy task. The clockmaker also told me that he, in his thirty years of experience, has never seen a replacement movement for one of this type of ship\'s clock, and likewise has never seen a battery operated movement for one either.

Please ask any questions that you may have and I will do my best to answer them in a timely fashion. The winning buyer is expected to pay for the item within three (3) days of the end of the sale. Due to the sensitive nature of the movement, packing and shipping for this item is a bit more than for items of similar size. No returns or refunds. Thank you for considering my Seth Thomas treasure, and please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
