This sale is for an antique SETH THOMAS cathedral style mantle clock. This clock has a patent date on the Sonora chime unit Feb 18 1908. From my research it is a number 5 chime clock made around 1915. It has a brass movement number 89AE and a chime movement number 90D. It appears to be all original and complete with no broken or replaced parts except for the brass wind key. The adamantine dark mahogany finish is almost like it was in a time capsule for this past 100 years shines and looks like new. It is very shinny almost plastic looking and the edges are not cracked or nick so well handled. The clock face is 5\" silvered and shows some wear but I have not tired to clean it. The glass dial is not scratched and the brass bezel is nice and tight not hanging so opens and closes properly. On the right side of the clock is a chime turn off lever. On the feet there are 4 brass rests. The clock measures 11x7.5x14\" so is fairly good size for a large mantel. On the inside of the back cover there is a paper card with wind instructions by S-T. There is a paper tag on the bottom with the letters/numbers HO1/63 and 00152? . On the brass clock movement is written Made in USA with the S-T symbol. There is a movement number 89AE. The clock runs very good. There is 4 bells around 3\" in diameter and the Sonora chimes movement. It plays the Westminster chime sound and has been running but sometimes stops so will need a cleaning. It has the original S-T pendulum bob. I replaced the key with a brass S-T about 10 years ago. I have to sell this with no returns because of its age and what can happen in shipping. I will provide more photos. Email me for any questions.
