Sevres Style Porcelain Box Hand Painted Chateau des Tuileries Vintage:

This is a large antique French dresser box, oval and bombe\' shaped. The Sevres style porcelain carries the mark of the studio as being \"Chateau des Tuileries\" with a blue \"S\" and the words\" Made in France \" on the bottom. The strong cobalt blue color is accented by the gilded gold design and hand painted scene on top of the box and the floral interior. From my research I believe this studio work is from the early 1900\'s to 1940\'s. The most unusual feature to me is the hinged OWL that closes the front. I cannot find any information on this feature but it is truly unique.The hand painted scene on the lid is that of a pair of lovers in a garden. The artist signed the work and it is locatedon the left side of the painted scene. There are also 3 landscape paintings on the front and each side of the box. They are scenes of a lake with mountains in the background. The heavy guilded scroll design is in perfect condition.
The lid opens to reveal roses on the inside of the lid and bottom of the box. The lid is framed with the ormolu hinged on the back. The lid opens and closes fine.

There is some age and patina on part of the back hinge. This may have been repaired in that area, but the hinge still works perfectly. This box has been in our family 60+ years and was purchased at sale in the 1950\'s.It has been packed away and carefully tended since then and looks like it was never used. Please see all of the 12 photos I posted. I see no other chips or damages in the porcelain.
