Vintage Shoe shine box. Handcrafted. The gentleman I got it from told me it was made by Nussbaum Novelty, a company from Berne, Indiana, that is not longer in existence. There is no stamp on it to verify that, though. It is well constructed and solid. Does have some residue from shoe polish inside.
