up for sale is an original vintage gelatin silver print from the famous German photographer Siegfried Enkelmann (1905-1978). Siegfried Enkelmann is considered the leading dance photographer of the 40s thru the 60s in Germany. Prints of his iconic images have been sold atChristie’s (London), Lempertz (Cologne), Chayette & Cheval Paris and other prestigious sale houses for as much as $1200 (Source: Artnet)

I have unique access to Siegfried Enkelmann’s filing cards which he maintained meticulously. For reference and as an additional proof of authenticity I show the corresponding filing card (whereavailable) These cards are not part of the sale!

Another rare and artistic photograph from Siegfried Enkelmann, part of a series he called „Gesänge des Todes“ (Chants of death)

I cannot say with certainty when this photograph was taken, but other photographs ofEdith Türckheim (born 1909) date back to 1936, according to Enkelmann’s filing cards. Then again, another photomontage of the„Gesänge des Todes“ series cannot have been created until after the end of the war.

Year of work: late 1930s, possibly late 1940s

Medium: Gelatin silver print

Print size: 11.875\" x 9.375“ (circa 30.1 x 23.8 cm)

Condition: Corners and edges are mostly clean, only the lower right corner shows some significant wear. The print shows very few dust specks, it appears to be retouched. During my initial inspection I gave thisprint 4 out of 5 stars.

IMPORTANT: I will be traveling to Germany from Dec 17 until Dec 29. Any prints sold within Europe I can ship from Germany with little delay. Any prints sold in the US after Dec 17 I will only be able to ship upon my return to the US.
