This is a beautiful piece of authentic Jugendstil jewelleryfully signedby Martin Mayer, Germany c1900 in silver set around an oval slice of warm orange-hued carnelian, which lights beautifully when held to the light. It is the first time I have seen this exact Mayer pendant design so I am sure it will appeal to collectors of both Mayer and Jugendstil. In fabulous condition too!

The pendant issuch an elegant and simple piece and very feminine in execution. It has a central leaf, next to the bale, and then several larger leaves gracefully fall down the outside of the frame until they reach the three classic Mayer roses at the bottom of the pendant. I adore theway that the leaves and roses work around all of the oval stone, making such a naturalistic border against the warmth of the carnelian colour.

The bale is very clearly stamped withseveral marksincluding the \"800\" silver mark, the crescent moon and crown of German silver and also the Martin Mayer firm\'s marks.

The pendant measuresjust over 4.8cm in height, including the bale, by approx. 2.7cm. The pendant is in wonderful condition, with both the silver work and the stone being in a very well-card for condition. Just the patina to polish away if you prefer your antique pieces that way.
