\" Susan Point(born 5 April 1952[1]) is aMusqueamCoast Salishartist fromCanada, who works in theCoast Salish tradition.[2]Her works include public pieces installed at theVancouver International Airport,Stanley Park, theNational Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C., theU.B.C. Museum of Anthropology, and thecity of Seattle.[3][4][5]

Point was born inAlert Baywhile her parents were salmon fishing, and grew up with her family in their home on theMusqueam Indian Reserve.[4][6]In the early 1980s, she joined a group of artists interested in reviving the traditions ofCoast Salish artand design, including artists such as Stan Greene, Rod Modeste, and Floyd Joseph. Little research had been done onSalish art, so Point taught herself the Salish traditions. She studied the collections of Coast Salish art at theUniversity of British Columbia\'s Museum of Anthropologyand theRoyal British Columbia Museum.[4][7]

Much of her art practice has involved the adaptation of traditionalspindle whorlcarvings into the medium ofscreen printing. Her work helped reviveCoast Salish designand brought new scholarly attention to her culture.[4][7]\" wikipedia
