A single China 1900 no bar awarded to Lieutenant later Lieutenant Colonel J.H.G. Casserly, 20th Bombay Infantry, later 120th Rajputana Rifles, Indian Army, who had previously served with the Volunteer Force in the 4th Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers,It is correctly engraved: Lieutt. J. H. G. Casserly, 20th Bo. Infy James Henry (Gordon) Casserly, born Dublin 1869, son of James Casserly of Estersnow Roscommon. Mother (Maria O\'Rorke) ran a vintners in Chatham Street, now \"Neary\'s\". Educated in Blackrock College (scored 2 tries in the first ever Senior Cup Rugby final in Lansdowne Road in 1887) and Trinity College Dublin. Commissioned as 2 LIeutenant in British Army and went to India in 1892 and the joined 22nd Bombay Infantry, served in China in 1900 during Boxer Rebellion, regiment renamed 120th Rajputana Regiment and served in North Eastern frontier. Back in Dublin during 1914 and (clandestinely) training Irish Volunteers [unconfirmed!]. Retired as Lieutenant Colonel from British Army 1916. Lived in Algeria and South of France and died in Brighton in 1947. Many published works including a forgotten classic account of life under British Raj \"Life in an Indian Outpost\", (1914), A Manual of Jungle and River Warfare, The Land of the Boxers or China under the Allies and Also dabbled in supernatural literature!
