This is your opportunity to purchase aCorica Hard Soldered Silver Water Jug by James Deakin & Sons,Sheffieldas used on The African Express “Blue Train”.

Part of a silverwareset especiallycommissioned for the Blue Train.

This water jug stands 5½\" high (8\" with the lid open). It is 3\" wide at the base and 2\" at the top.

The inscription on the base of the jug reads: CORICA SILVER, 1~72, James Deakin & Sons, “Silversmiths Stamp”, Sheffield, HARD SOLDERED, Made inEngland, 144, S-6-1.

I have no idea when this jug was actually made although James Deakin & Sons were using this Silverware stamp from the 1890\'s.TheBlue Train\'s origins date back to 1923.

No attempt has been made to clean the jug - we will leave thatup tothe new owners. There are somesmalldings and dents in the jug but these only add to its charm.

Just a little bit of history about the \"Blue Train\".

The African Express “Blue Train” is a 5 star luxury train equipped with elegant bed linen, marble floors, gold fittings, fine food and wine, cocktails, high teas and fine cigars. It travels betweenPretoriaand Capetown (994 miles) which is a scheduled service orPretoriaandDurban(chartered service).

The Blue Train offers two types of Suites, theDeluxe Suiteand theLuxury Suite. Similar in size the Luxury Suite offers a bigger bathroom.

The dining car offers the reassuring weight ofSheffieldcutlery, crystal glassware and Corica Silverware on crisp white linen setting the tone for the delights to follow. All meals are freshly prepared on board the train by executive chefs. Carefully selected South African wines complement the gourmet cuisine served.

It has two lounges: the main lounge and the Club lounge. The Club lounge has a more masculine ambiance and is expected to find favour with those seeking a peaceful place for after-dinner cognacs, coffees or cigars.High tea is served each afternoon in the main lounge. There is also an Observation Car at the back of the train with large windows offering panoramic views of the passing landscape.
