Simon Brothers Sterling Silver thimble with 14K gold band :

Thimble is marked inside withsterling silver and the Simon Brothers shield. It has a 14K gold band that does not show well in the pictures, but the pics do show the mark. It has a 7 stamped on the side and I suppose that is the size. It is perfect with no dents, holes, etc. I do not think this item was ever used. This thimble was found among the jewelry of my mother born in 1922 and it belonged to either her mother or grandmother. I assume it was her mothers which would date it to the early 1920\'s or earlier if she received as a teenager. How do I know it was her mother\'s at least? The size would have never fit her, too large as her hands were the size of a childs. She was only 4 ft 10 in. tall. It certainly was a gift to mark an important event, perhaps her marriage. I am not a collector of thimbles and no expert.
