A very rare, seldom seen, compact cabinet for Singer Featherweight sewing machines, offered \"as is\", in mostly excellent shape. Your Featherweight would be stored inside the cabinet, on the right within the wooden guides on the bottom. When taken out, the bottom wood panel at the forward edge of the cabinet is flipped up for an easier, up close sitting position. The machine placed down into the cutout on top, to rest on the metal holding brackets. Some veneer and finish work is needed as indicated in the pictures. The top cover lid has an imprint from a cloth with a design left on the surface for a long time. Part of one a foot needs to be built back up and some veneer work is needed on that side (has a door stopper under it in pictures). The other side is complete structurally, the lower piece is complete, has been better aligned with the leg since the photos were taken and tack glued into place - much less white now appears between the horizontal layers of the complete leg. It also needs new veneer and to be permanently reattached to the main leg structure.
Repairs are left for your skills or of a carpenter of your choice. Veneer work will likely require color matching where refinishing the entire piece is a probable path. The condition of the cabinet is generally excellent and of common furniture ailments considered easily repairable. It is accomplished by a competent woodworking craftsman as I had it evaluated by one, a personal friend from his start in restoration, over 30 years prior, his main business the entire time, and some building. I was given an estimate for piece work and the entire job, as mostly refinishing work. This work was said to be common and easily accomplished for far below the value of the cabinet, especially when color matching of one part or new veneer to old is not involved (time consuming, tedious work). A change here has left this cabinet free to leave, therefore you can decide on any steps with regard to its appearance.
Starting price is far less that I have seen this cabinet go for over the years ($1200) as it is very rare. Buy it now is comparable to other tables, although this one is unique to at this time and I have received a lot of messages as to when I was going to post the lid and recently, when it was going to reappear for sale. The buy it now considers the cost of the repairs as it will be in perfect condition and all around in line with its true value at a price for quicker sale.

For those concerned about the \"short foot\", held up by a door wedge, there\'s a simple solution to get by and use the cabinet almost instantly.

Since the gap is small, many types of furniture \"feet\", especiallythose with a large rubber bumper with a nail protruding from the back of it,could quickly be tapped into the foot with a small hammer and you\'re done!

Other feet have screw threads with straight or parallel sides as in a machine typescrew, or angled to a point for those intended to penetrate wood. Asmall diameter starter hole could be drilled firstto guide the shaft being screwed in until the new foot is at the proper level.

Also, for stability / strength, two or more feet could be set into the onemissing foot. A rubber foot would help prevent sliding on hard floors.

New feetcould be added to all legs, your choice, for whatever purpose it might serve, especially to prevent sliding and/or scratching the floor.

The shop\'s evaluation of the missing foot was to replace it with a new piece of wood, even pine since it is easy to cut and shape, especially by hand. Pine isavailable at HomeDepot and can be cut to the proper thickness by their machines where last I checked, two cuts arefree, each successive cut is 50 cents. Once shaped, it can be attached by wood glue, even with screws straight up through the bottom in predrilled smaller holes to prevent any cracking.
