This is a really SweetLacquer Gourd Box that\'s all hand Made and Painted..This boxbegan with adried Gourd and then colored lacquers are applied and thenpainted decoration to the top and rim. This is a wonderful example ofMexican Folk Art. And would make agreat gift for that special person in your life!! This is a newly made piece and is in perfect condition.

It measures 3 3 /4 inches wide by 4 inchestall, including the stem.

The process for making these piecesbegin by sanding the wood and then sealing it with a varnish made from natural oils and earthen pigments such as ground dirt and rocks found near Olinalá. After drying, a stone is used to burnish the surface until it is smooth. More powdered pigments are mixed with oil and multiple layers are applied until the desired tone and shine is achieved. After drying for up to a month, the piece is ready for decoration. Using homemade brushes made from turkey feathers, the designs are sketched.\"
