The pattern is known as Chained Star, Rolling Star, and also Brunswick Star. The quilt top was set by hand, tight stitching, that you can see compared to a ruler on photo # 10.
The makers sew by the top to a feed sack back that is still attached to this piece: that backing is seen on pics # 11 and 12.
Some previous owner unpick one of the sides and removed cotton batting from inside, as there are still puffs of that type of batting visible. The unpicking left many tiny holes on the fabrics of the top, and the backing.
We are calling this a \"quilt top\", but seems to be closer to be a quilt whose batting was removed.
It measures approximately 57\" by 37\", so it is really small. The bed in the photos is a queen, 80\" by 60\".
