Offered is a nice early Oregon Siletz Indian Braided Double Handled Basket, closed weave with an overlay design.
This dates to the early 1900s and came from a well-known Midwest sale house that specializes in Native American sales.This basket measures 8\" tall to top of handle and approx. 4\" across.
This displays nicely. One side of handle has a Native repair--wrap has not aged and handle is a little wobbly. Design has blended into base of basket. A few rubbed stitches. You can see tiny gaps in weaving. Please see pictures.OurNative American and First Nation items have been collected from variousplaces--sales, estate sales, pow wows and craft stores from our travels. Many of our Quill Boxes come from Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college, it\'s time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with others.
