A spectacular and uniquely styled antique French sterling silver 12\" coffee pot, with exuberant Renaissance styling. The dramatic strap-work and foliage embellished scroll handle is surmounted by the head of a Dragon, and its richly detailed spout features the enchanting face of a medieval woman / Mascaron. Supported on a stepped pedestal base, the pot\'s body is engraved with an elaborate interlaced monogram both sides, and the domed lid is surmounted by a striking, intricately detailed finial. Masterly crafted from the highest quality silver, and weighing a remarkable 1292 grams, it is stamped with the French Minerve 1st standard silver mark (.950), and carries the signature of renowned Parisian silversmith TALLOIS & MAYENCE, c. 1890. Professionally cleaned by our master silversmith, condition is very good with just light signs of use commensurate with age to note.
