Spectacular early 19th Century Landscape. Oil on relined canvas. Lots of activity with people, sheep, and unspoiled landscape. Signed lower right. Nameplate states the artist’s name as “F Burras”. There was a Thomas Burras (1790-1870) whose work is remarkably similar. The signature could well be “T” Burras. In any event it’s rare to see such a monumental painting. It has been relined and professionally cleaned. Minor in-painting upper left corner. Housed in its original ornate frame the dimensions are 34” x 58”. Unframed the dimensions are 21” x 45”. A truly exceptional oil!
