The offering is for a lovely PAIR of mid century modern, tufted swivel lounge chairs by Ward Bennett. The chairsmaintain their original creamnaugahyde with freshly polished aluminum four-star bases. The set is in nice vintage condition(wear consistent with age and use keeping in mind that the lounge chairs are from the 1960s).There are no buttons missing, tears, or stains. The lounge chairs swivel 360 degrees, and have a built-in tilt mechanism. Not only are these lounge chairs striking, but mid century moderns classics. Hailed by the American Institute of Architects for \"transforming industrial hardware into sublime objects,\" Ward Bennett was one of the earliest American designers to introduce industrial materials into the home, well before the high-tech look of the 1970s. In 1964, he undertook a collaboration with Brickel Associates, designing furniture and textiles; in 1987, he began working with Geiger directly. A prodigious designer of objects, Bennett also designed for Tiffany and Company, Sasaki and Hermes. His designs are represented in the Museum of Modern Art\'s permanent collection as well as in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. In 2004, Geiger re-introduced several iconic Bennett designs, including the Scissor chair, H Frame storage and I Beam table, as the Ward Bennett Business Classics collection.
