Selling a wonderful early 1950s vintage hard plasticGerman Santa / St. Nicholas candy container having applied cotton\"fur\" trim. Hand painted details on red hard plastic. This is the old world, European style St. Nicholas / Father Christmas / Santawho is tall and slender, unlike our rather well upholstered American Santa. There was at one time a plug which filled the hole at the bottom tocontain the candy inside Santa, but the plug is long gone. Thehand painted features on Santa are DELIGHTFULLY REALISTIC. Santa is in very goodcondition with minute wear to paint due to age and use. Santa hasno chips, no cracks, no hairlines. I have dusted Santa but going over himwith a damp cloth is probably a good idea. Santa\'s red outfit has a faintsurface texture to simulate the feel of cloth. Santa is approximately 11 3/4\"tall. The red surface has its original slightly matte surface which is whySanta looks even older than his 60+ years. Colors are bright and unfaded, andSanta has a charming mysterious expression. This small company manufactured St. Nicholas candy containers in three sizes. This is the largest of the three. Each St. Nicholas figure was quite different from the other two.
