This Stanton 890AL was their top of the line cartridge and stylus combination for back cueing and scratch mixing back in the day. A rare item on , it is highly sought after by club DJs for its rugged construction and smooth frequency response. This is a heavy tracking cartridge with a spherical stylus. The stylus shank is less compliant than its ultra low tracking force siblings with nude elliptical styli and can withstand the rigors of slip cueing in the radio studio and scratch mixing in the club. It tracks reliably from 2-7 grams, making it a great choice for broadcast applications, particularly in community and public radio , both for on air play and archival use where vinyl is being transferred to digital media. For anyone familiar with the venerable Stanton 500 and 600 Series used in broadcast, the 890AL is the best of the workhorse cartridges, combining ruggedness with much tighter specifications and flatter response.
