The original box and chess board are done in faux woodgrain lithopaper over board(box is cardboard--game board may be what is referred to in the rules booklet as Galnite).

The black and white chess pieces are hard plastic with felt bottoms and are weighted. The kings are 2 3/4 inches tall.
