Produced exclusively for Steiff Club members the Picnic Bear was made by hand from genuine gold blond mohair woven fur (65% wool - 35% cotton) and stuffed with 100% Excelsior in the traditional manner. Nose, mouth and claws are hand embroidered in black. This 13” bear has five joints, black eyes, cream felt paws and is fitted with a working growler. A blue satin ribbon around his neck with a porcelain medallion identifies the bear as the 1997 Club Edition. His basket contains a glass bottle and two porcelain plates with the Club logo, and a blue and green checkered picnic blanket. Teddy is distinguished with the famous “button in ear” with a white tag consecutively numbered in red letters. These tags were only used for Special Limited Edition items. Page 630 of Steiff 1947-2003 Catalog. The Certificate of Authenticity and the Bear are numbered 5368 of a Special Limited Edition of 9,888 pieces. The Bear, the COA and the Original Box are all in Mint Condition. Storedby a private collectorin a climate controlled, smoke free Environment. Includes original factory outer shipping carton.
