Stunning Mid 20th Century Chalice - Mid size - Former Chaplaincy Her Majesty’s ForcesA rare ecclesiastical chalice Made for the War Department and used in the Chaplaincy department of the services.The tapered cup raised on a knopped stem with rope twist detail, leading to a splayed hexagonal base with an engraved cross above further rope twist borders. The chalice has been planished overall.Hallmarked with the makers initials E E D it shows a London city Mark and it was assayed in1955.It weighs a very handsome 12 troy ounces (375 grams).Height measuring 7 3/8 inches or 19 cms.This is a splendid chalice with a great story and perfectly useable.
