This very unique sterling creamer in the shape of a cow appears to have been made c.1900. It is very similar to other .925 silver Germancow creamers appearing on . The place where it may have said "Germany" or "Made in Germany" (immediately below the "STERLING" mark) appears to have been have very consciously erased. I speculate this might have been done during one of the two World Wars when anti-German feeling was running high. At any rate this piece isgreat condition in every aspect (with the exception of one leg being perhaps 1/16th " shorter than the others). It show the lovely patina of a piece that is at least 100 years old. The hinged lid has a worn engraved floral pattern around a central bellflower. The cow has a startled beatific look on her face and is plump and very heavy for its size. It is 5" long (from nose tip to curling tail), 3 3/8th " tall and weighs 7.31 troy ounces.
