The 1939 \"Royal Danish\" patternwas an \"inspired by\" sterling silver pattern, reminiscent of the famous royal silverware pattern made by Georg Jensen. The New York Times wrote: \"Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but Georg Jensen did not recognize it as such when, in 1939, the International Silver Company introduced Royal Danish, a best seller. The pattern has a shape so nearly similar to the Jensen Acorn that its advertising must state \"Made in U.S.A.\"
To get a \'balanced\' ring with all hallmarks intact in smaller sizes this ring was made from a demitasse spoon.
Brief History of the International Silver CompanyThe International Silver Company was incorporated in 1898 by a number of independent New England Silversmiths whose family backgrounds began with the earliest American settlers. International became not only renown for the quality of its fine silver, it became the world\'s largest manufacturer of silverware.
