This is a nice example of a clean, used, fully reconditioned and reset 0-40 MPH Western Flyer speedometer head, made in the 1970s for Western Auto stores by Stewart-Warner, and calibrated for vintage bikes with 26\" front wheels. It\'s all ready for use; just add aStewart-Warner drive cable/hub assembly (not included). There is no surviving datestamp on the back of the case, but this was assembled probably sometime in the 1970s at the Stewart-Warner plant in Chicago.

I have gone over this speedo head in detail, cleaning and lubing the mechanism, and removing the odometer to reset it by hand. The plastic dial cover and case have both been polished and waxed. The case shows none of the usual hairline cracks by the cable outlet (see photos 3, 4 & 5). The clear dial cover has no cracks, andfits properly.

The speedometer head is about 3\" in diameter and 2\" deep, plus the cable outlet in back. If desired, the handlebar bracket can be swiveled up over the top of the speedo head, instead of below it as shown here, to allow a pendant mounting with the speedometer head below the handlebars instead of above them. It\'s all in good working order and ready to install!
