This is a stoneware jug that must have been made for a special occasion. It is 7 3/8\" tall and has a glossy dark brown glaze on the lower part. The upper part has a clear glaze and it is trimmed with gold; in old script lettering (also in gold) is: \"Enterprise Pottery Co. Ltd. New Brighton, Pa.\" (The pottery was founded in 1883 and was in business until around 1920.)The jug has hand painted flowers (fired on, not cold paint) on either side of the lettering. The gold has some wear and the glaze on the upper part has crazing; the dark brown glaze is not crazed. There are no chips or cracks.
